Traer Library NEIBORS Overdrive

Downloadable Audios available through your library

Available:  www.traerlibrary.com, library services, downloadable audios

You may browse through the books to see what is available without signing on and without downloading the Windows Media Overdrive.

Once you decide to download a book, you will need to sign on:

TO SIGN ON:

Pick Traer Library, then sign in with your 9 digit number: 50675XXXX with the last 4 digits being your library number (if you don’t know your number ask the librarian) if your number has less than 4 digits, precede your number with either 0 or 00

DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE:

The first time you want to download an audio you will need to down load the overdrive media software to your computer, you will also need to download the Windows Media Player software along with its updates – this software is free, what it is and how to download it is explained very well in the Quick Start link available of the first page of the website.

QUICK INFO:

  • You must download the book to your computer before you are allowed to burn it on CDs or transfer it to your MP3 player

  • It will take 30-40 minutes to download a medium sized book – once your book is on your computer, it only takes several minutes to transfer to a MP3 player, each book is divided into parts, you will need one CD per each part of a book – a medium size book will take about 7 CDs

  • You can check out 2 audios at a time

  • Your audios are checked out in your name until they expire (usually 7 or 14 days) then they automatically are checked back in – you cannot check in a book before its time even if you are done with it.

  • Audios may only be downloaded 3 times before they disabled, if you have a poor internet connection sometimes you may use up all 3 downloads before you actually have your book downloaded – if this happens, call the library and the librarians can override the disabled feature.

  • If a book you want is already checked out it will allow you to add your name to the waiting list and you will be contacted by email when it is available.

  • At this time this program is not compatible with MACs.

EXTRA HELP:

The quick start link on the first page of the website offers excellent information.  If you need more help, don’t hesitate to make an appointment with Rosanne Foster or Linda McDermott at the library, and they will go over the process with you.
