BY-LAWS OF FRIENDS OF THE TRAER PUBLIC LIBRARY

NAME

 The name of this organization shall be Friends of the Traer Public Library.

                                                        Article II

PURPOSE

The administration of the Traer Public Library is vested in the Board of Trustees and Traer City Council.

The purpose of this organization shall be to assist the library in developing programs to meet current community needs; to assist in promoting knowledge of and participation in library programs; to aid in providing funds to meet special library needs; and to provide a channel for individuals and organizations to express ideas and make suggestions for library use and services.

Article III

MEMBERSHIP

Membership shall be open to all individuals and groups who support the purpose of this organization.

Article IV

OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES

Sec. 1 The officers shall be: Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer to take office in April. Officers

           shall be appointed by the members of the organization. The term shall be for two years.

Sec. 2 Standing committees shall be:  Book Sale, Brunch, Programs, Publication, Volunteer and Membership &                                                                 

           Nominating. Standing Committee Chairmen shall be appointed by the members of the organization. The   

           term shall be for one year.

Sec. 3 The Officers and Standing Committee Chairmen shall constitute the Executive Committee and shall

           serve as the governing body of this organization.

Sec. 4 A majority of the members of the Executive Committee shall constitute a quorum for the transactions of

           business.

Sec. 5 Officers and Standing Committee Chairmen shall be elected at the annual meeting.

Sec. 6 Pre-term vacancies on the Executive Committee shall be filled by appointment made by the remaining                                           

          Executive Committee members.

Article V

MEETINGS

Sec. 1 Executive Committee meetings shall be held quarterly.

Sec. 2 The annual meeting of this organization shall be in April. All members shall be invited and notified in   

           advance.

Article VI

DUES

Dues shall be $5.00 per year per person, payable by April meeting. Life membership is $100.

Article VII

FUNDS

This organization shall not be operated for profit. Funds raised and collected in the name of Friends shall be deposited in the Traer Public Library Foundation, and disbursed through said Foundation. No funds will be disbursed without the approval and authorization of the Executive Committee of the Friends of the Traer Public Library.
