What is the Friends of the Library? · The Friends of the Library help the Library by raising funds for anything the Library might need, i.e., books, videos, audios, or equipment. · They raise funds through membership fees, book sales and other programs. · The Friends also provide volunteer help as requested by the Library. · They help with programs and public relations to keep the Library prominent in the eye of the community. · They are advocates for the Library and are very important to the Library.
What are the Benefits of joining the Friends? · Annual newsletter · Members only preview of the annual Used Book Sale · Discounts on select events sponsored by the Friends · Support of a valued community resource · Personal satisfaction from helping support our Library

Membership & Nominations– This committee will work on increasing membership in the group (as we all should). They will also recommend, annually, candidates to fill vacancies on the Executive Committee.
Programs– These members will plan annual and special programs for the library and the community. They will also plan annual library observances such as National Library Week and Children’s Book Week.
Spring Brunch– This committee will plan and implement the annual event.
Book Sale– This group’s main tasks will be to plan and conduct one annual Used Book Sale (Traer Home Show weekend) and one New Book Sale (Holiday Happenings weekend). They will also plan, order and stock promotional items sold at the library.
Volunteers-This committee will work with the Library Director to organize volunteers to perform various tasks within the Library.
All Friends are invited to participate in any committee they are interested in.
Every member is encouraged to volunteer in the library itself as well—there are a variety of tasks that need to be done—something for everyone!
Each committee chair will receive a binder to maintain for future reference.
